The Nakiia Foundation has gone to the DOGS, rescuing that is. We have added to our mission by rescuing dogs from kill shelters so they too, may have the opportunity for a good life and future. We help misunderstood animals find their forever homes, so it should come as no surprise that our main focus is the most misunderstood dog of all, the America Pit Bull Terrier.

American Pit Bull Terriers were first brought to America by our founders. This dog has shaped history, once being a working dog and then the desired pet for the America Dream. Today, unfortunately, they have a bad breed reputation by no fault of their own. Deeds are the problem not the breed. Help them clear their name, and be a loyal family member. The United Kennel Club says: "The essential characteristics of the American Pit Bull Terrier are strength, confidence, and zest for life. This breed is eager to please and brimming over with enthusiasm.”

The best way to add your new best friend and family member is through adoptions. Adopting dogs rather than buying from pet shops will save thousands of dogs from being euthanized in shelters every day. A dog is killed approximately every 9 seconds and most of them are Pit Bulls.
